Ottawa Glow Fair Press Release

Today was the big day for the Ottawa Glow Fair. At 11am, Arc The Hotel,  just blocks away from where the second annual Glow Fair will be held, the updates and music lineup for this years edition of Glow Fair was released.

June 19th and 20th will see Bank Street transform into 9 themed street blocks of color, music, lights, food, artisans, festivties and fun. And most of all, black lights, bright colors and all things glow. The glow fair festivities will start on Friday evening with live music and DJ's playing on two stages till the early hours of Saturday and then start up again in the morning and go all day and night. Bank street from Slater all the way down to James street will be split with 9 different themes. And for those who were there last year, yes the Silent Rave will be happening again. How cool is that!

The Bank Street BIA and the GlowFair board of directors worked extremely hard to improve upon last years success which saw 27,000 people take in the Glow Fair. This years edition should easily top those numbers with much more on the schedule, more offerings, and a lot more added for children and families. Did we mention this festival is free to attend?

The line up of DJ's and musical talent for this years Glow Fair is amazing! The following picture gives you a hint as to the lineup and headliners, but for more details on who is performing, head on over to the Glow Fair's website to learn more about the 16 performers who will be attending. And yes you are not seeing things, that is Juno Award winning Keisza pictured below. She will be performing on Saturday!

Each of the themed street blocks will have their own distinctive flavor and will sport bright colored painted benches, tree's of lights, black lights and an amazing amount of fun things to do and see. Too many things to list here on this post. Yoga classes, DJ's, silent disco's, Little Ray's Reptile Zoo, an enchanted forest, giant street chess, buskers, children's artistic workshops, food vendors, artisans, dance studio's and performers, face painting, live bands, story tellers, skateboarding and competition, and so much more. This years schedule and themed blocks will have something for everyone of every age, and did we mention black lights and all things glowing??

Here at sparklingexpressions we are thrilled to have had the opportunity to play a part in today's press release and this years edition of the Glow Fair. Part of the on screen video at the press release was three models dancing under a black light. And thats right! Covered from head to toe in glowing uv reactive body paint that sparklingexpressions had the honor of applying and using three of the Glow Fair themes for the designs. (Circus, Pinball Wizard and Enchanted Forest)

As well we will be joining everyone in all the amazing fun to be had at this years festival, and will be found in two sections. We will be offering face painting in the kids zone as a Glow Fair partner and will also have the sparklingexpressions tent set up in the Glow Zone. We will have a huge selection of Glitter Tattoos on hand for both the young and old, and will also be offering detailed face painting. And to fit in with the whole Glow Fair theme and make great use of all the black lights that will be everywhere, we will have our UV reactive professional body and face paints and glitter with us. We can not wait for this fun!

613 Night Market Fun

This past Saturday, from 4pm till midnight,  sparklingexpressions was on hand for this years sold out edition of the 613 Night Market, and what a fun night it was for all those who attended. (just a little over 6.5K people) The festivities were held at the Ottawa Convention Centre on Colonel By Drive. (Also known as the Shaw Centre)

Everyone who was in attendance was treated to a night of dance music, drinks, and an amazing variety of street food vendors, restaurants, and night time shopping. This was the first time for sparklingexpressions to attend the Bazaar as we showcased our vinyl crafts, wall decals and glitter tattoos. We also shared our booth with our sister company TEAroma~TH√Čaroma who was on hand with their delicious blends of  flavoured loose tea.

If you have never had the opportunity to attend the 613 night market then make sure you keep an eye out for the next edition as you will not be disappointed. For more information on all the fun from the Bazaar, please follow the 613 night market link and if you wish to see some photographs of the event itself, then please take a look at the photographs taken and shared by ThirdEye Photography.

The following are a few of the crafts we had on hand that were made with vinyl decals.

Etched Glass Decals

We often write about decals made out of vinyl for glass, walls, vehicles, weddings, dance floors and crafts but rarely do we have the opportunity to write about etched glass, a similar product to vinyl decals and a product that looks simply stunning when applied to glass.

Well this past week, we had the opportunity to install some etched glass for Gardening by Design here in Ottawa, and it truly does jump out and make quite the impression. Etched glass material can be used to cut patterns, or business logo's and can be applied as a simple rectangle for privacy purposes to glass to create an etched look to existing glass, windows, wine glasses, mirrors and other flat glass related surfaces for a fraction of the cost of true etched glass and no need for sandblasting or etching creams.

The following pictures are from our recent installation of etched glass vinyl, that we cut out our customers business logo and slogan for an overhead mezzanine glass railing. Once applied and installed the etched glass decal truly looked amazing, creating the look of etched glass.

As you can see etched glass simply looks stunning and is a great subtle way to showcase your business logo to customers and can be installed economically in comparison to true sand blasting. Etched glass can also be removed just as easily as it is installed and can be applied to mirrors or glass ware and if you need privacy can be used to cover a whole window with or without your logo or information cut  from the privacy rectangle.

If you are interested in using etched glass in your business or home, we would be happy to discuss with you the endless possibilities and designs you may have in mind.
